Very, very deep crimson. Low-key nose. Thick. Stern. Dry. Mass rather than charm, but a stout effort and a slow developer. (JR)

Since the 1988 vintage, Gazin has been one of the up and coming stars of Bordeaux. However, the 1982 was obviously made during an uninspiring period when quality was not the chateau's highest priority. It exhibits an herbal, tea-like, spicy, sweet, jammy cherry-scented nose, medium body, some dilution, and a round, easy-going style. It will not hold its fruit for more than another 4-5 years . This is a pleasant but undistinguished wine that should be drunk before the turn of the century. Tasted 4 times with consistent notes.

Saturated deep red. Liqueur-like aromas of currant, soy sauce and burnished wood; slightly pruney. Sweet but ultimately a wine of only moderate flesh and concentration. Seems a bit dry on the back end.
