Tasting notes
Displaying a bright straw hue, the 2019 Carricante Centennial Mountain Vineyard is vibrant with savory aromas of sea spray, lemon verbena, candle wax, and green melon. Medium-bodied, it has an electric personality on the palate, with energetic acidity, and its citrus and saline notes are accented with white pepper spice. A refreshing and notable white, it will benefit from allowing more time to develop in the bottle and show off its more resinous and herbaceous profile. Drink 2024-2034.

Fruit from Sonoma County. Whole-cluster pressed into 25-hl oak casks. Native-yeast fermentation and full malolactic conversion. Lees are stirred monthly for a full year, and the wine is bottled after 22 months in cask. No fining, no filtration. 500 cases made. Aromas of green apple, lemon pith and finger lime. Bright green-apple and finger-lime flavours mix with white flowers and a bracing juicy acidity that has an underlying wet-chalkboard minerality. Zippy and delicious with just the hint of oak lingering in the finish. (AY)
The 2019 Carricante Centennial Mountain Vineyard is bright, effusive and full of personality. Orchard fruit, jasmine, lime, tropical overtones and bright acids give the 2019 a gorgeous, exotic character with Riesling-like echoes that jump from the glass. It is one of the most distinctive California whites I can remember tasting of late.
