Attractive lemon-limey lift on the nose. Fine-grained and supple but more energetic and backward than the Forêt, offering nicely concentrated flavors of sweet peach, apricot and ripe citrus fruits enlivened by dusty stone. Finishes with good length and verve.

The 2013 Chablis 1er Cru Montmain has a detailed bouquet with cold flint and even blackberry-leaf scents that are beautifully defined. The palate is fresh and vibrant with a keen acidic thread, driving citric notes with a slight walnut tinge on the tensile, orange rind finish. This lingers long in the mouth and should age better than the Fôrets '13.
Savory and mineral notes dominate over fruit in the 2013 Chablis Montmains. Slate, crushed rocks, oyster shells and sage are some of the many notes that inform this crystalline, precise Chablis. There is lovely density in the glass, yet the Montmains looks like a relatively early drinking wine by Raveneau standards.
