Rather charred nose but juicy and fruity. Not complex but not tricky. Dry finish. (JR)

Very dark. Full and attention-grabbing but still rather raw and green. Lots of green tannins. Just a bit tart and tough. Shame as this is a wine that was created expressly to appeal to those looking for smart wines that age fast enough to be useful on airlines. (JR)

The tasty 2004 Alter Ego may turn out to be outstanding. This brilliant effort boasts a deep ruby/purple color as well as abundant amounts of black currant, chocolate, licorice, and espresso characteristics. Lush, heady, and ripe, it will provide lovely drinking over the next decade.
