Tasting notes
Verduno. Just mid ruby. Fantastic nose of waxy raspberry fruit with the lift of oak. Complex and deep. Noble even. Aromatic, long and with gorgeous ripe acidity and finely ground tannins that pinch the fruit on the finish. Beautiful balance. (WS)

The 2019 Barolo Riserva Monvigliero is elegant and nuanced, with crushed red berry fruit, inner perfume, hard candy and mint. Now with more than a year in bottle, this remains pretty tightly wound. I would sit on the 2019.
Verduno. Just mid ruby with watery orange-tinged rim. Brooding and deep with a minerally edge and needs lots of air to expand in the glass. Succulent red fruit with finely chiselled, yet powerful tannins like the Massara but with more weight and gravitas, yet maintaining its elegance. Fantastic tactile finish. (WS)
The 2019 Barolo Riserva Monvigliero shows all the pedigree this site is capable of. A Barolo of striking depth and intensity, the Riserva possesses captivating inner perfume and tremendous focus. Sweet red cherry fruit, blood orange, spice, dried flowers and mint open gradually with time in the glass. The 2019 is still recovering from its recent bottling, not that I would suggest opening a bottle anytime soon.
