Score 96/100 · Drink 2016-2041, Robert Parker, Oct 2016
The 2012 G. B. Crane Cabernet Sauvignon Composition is a slightly different blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Merlot and 1% Petite Sirah. This is an even bigger wine at 15.7% natural alcohol, but of course, that’s part of the 2012 set of characteristics. Spicy oak intermixed with crème de cassis, blackberry and blueberry along with some chocolate and espresso are all present in this wine, which has great intensity, a multi-layered mouthfeel, fabulous purity and length, and a boatload of glycerin that gives the wine an unctuous texture. Again, there’s no heaviness. This is a beauty to drink now and over the next 20-25 years.
