Tasting notes
Coming from clay soils on the north side of Lake Hennessey, the 2022 Melbury shows redcurrants, black cherries, leather, and savory herbs, with a hint of loamy earth. It's medium-bodied and has a nicely concentrated mid-palate, ripe tannins, and outstanding length. It brings a touch more richness and depth than the Quella, and I always find a certain Bordeaux-like character in this cuvée. Drink 2025-2040.

The 2022 Melbury offers up succulent dark cherry/plum fruit, spice, new leather, incense and dried herbs. Plush, generous contours and a core of fleshy dark fruit add to the wine's considerable juiciness and overall appeal. The 2022 is a rich, heady wine that captures the exuberant side of the year.
Deep ruby with a hint of purple. Deep and slightly meaty nose with rich black fruit and a whiff of smoke. Incredibly mineral – like very rocky, deep cool soil. Fine silty tannin that coats the mouth and balanced acidity. Incredible length with a very dry finish. The most muscular of the BOND wines. (SCJ)
The 2022 Melbury is a wine of extraordinary precision and nuance. Silky, plush tannins wrap around a core of red/purplish fruit, lavender, mocha and spice. Pliant and creamy in the mid-palate, with striking persistence, Melbury is superb in 2022. The fine-grained tannins are especially notable for the year.
