The deep red-colored 2022 Orma envelops aromas of oak spice, toasted cedar, cassis, tobacco, scrubby wild herbs, and fresh leather. It fills the palate without being weighty and is full-bodied, with plush, ripe tannins, even acidity, and its spice lasting on its gently tapering finish. It’s a polished style, but with a good amount of finesse, and it should drink well over the next 15 years.

This is a blend of organic 50% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc from a 20-year-old vineyard with east-west exposures. The 2022 Orma shows inky dark richness with oaky notes of spice and savory tobacco. The wine is thickly textured with ripe, syrupy fruit. There are sweet tannins in this hot vintage. Production is 34,000 bottles.

Certified organic (Suolo e Salute). Blackish ruby. Posh nose of new oak and black forest fruit. Succulent black forest fruit on the palate and with much better integrated oak. A layer of sandy tannins makes its presence felt on the finish. International polish overall, and with a reassuringly expensive taste and smell. (WS)

The cabernet sauvignon character comes through nicely in this red, particularly on the palate, with currants, both red and black, as well as dried flowers and cedar. Some lead pencil as well. Medium body, with polish, finesse and beauty. Lovely length and grace. This is a move towards better balance and energy for Orma. One to watch. A blend of mostly merlot with cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc. Best after 2026, but already a very attractive young wine.
