Tasting notes
More translucent, the 2015 Barbaresco is another Burgundian effort with lots of light cherry fruits, dried flowers, licorice, and hints of tar all emerging from the glass. It's medium-bodied, light, and elegant, with silky tannins and outstanding length. It has plenty of upfront appeal and is going to evolve for 15 years or more with ease.

Pio Cesare's 2015 Barbaresco is laced with dried cherry, mint, sweet pipe tobacco and cedar. Medium in body and fleeting in feel, the 2015 looks like a wine that will offer its best drinking sooner rather than later. I find the 2015 too forward and lacking depth at this level. Perhaps it should have been bottled sooner.
The Pio Cesare 2015 Barbaresco offers a mid-weight approach and a solid core of fruit. That dark fruit center is surrounded by supple but delicate tones of exotic spice, smoke, tar, licorice and crushed stone. This is a fragrant and elegant expression that drinks beautifully straight out of the gate. This is a classic Barbaresco with an easy and approachable personality. Production is 25,000 bottles strong.
