The 2011 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Marie Beurrier is yet to be bottled. Tasted from an old barrique, it appears to be in danger of drying out. The fruit is thinning but retains (at least for the moment) a silky texture and decent length.

About as sexy as they come, the 2011 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvée Marie Beurrier is just about overflowing with notions of kirsch, bouquet garni, Provençal garrigue and bloody meat. Medium to full-bodied, sexy, nicely concentrated and already hard to resist, it will probably see the inside of a bottle in the not too distant future. Henri commented that he wished he'd scheduled the 2011 to be bottled before the 2010, which is lined up for bottling as soon as possible.
Deep red. Tightly wound cherry and red berry aromas are slow to unfold, eventually picking up hints of garrigue and cracked pepper. Tangy and focused on the palate, showing good depth to its bitter cherry and rhubarb flavors. Dusty tannins firm the finish, which features notes of succulent herbs and cherry pit.

About the producer
This very old-school property makes the most unique Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The wines are fantastically complex and Boneauu made it as it would have been produced 100 years ago in the commune, using methods that familiar to any of the 11 generations of vignerons in his family who preceded him.
