Tasting notes
Bright red with ruby tones. Very ripe aromas of blackberry, violet and bitter chocolate. Richer and fatter than the Bousselots but also a bit medicinal and lower-pitched, offering flavors of dark fruits and dark chocolate. Finishes drier in a classical way, with bigger shoulders and more obvious tannins than the Vosne-side Bousselots, if not quite that wine's class.

The 2016 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Roncière felt more muted on the nose at this stage despite aeration, developing a subtle tertiary/woodland note after five minutes in the glass. The palate is structured and masculine, a serious Nuits Saint Georges that will hopefully evolve a little more corpulence toward the finish by the time this is in bottle.
