Score 93/100 · Drink 2026-2032, Eric Guido, Vinous, Feb 2026

Hauntingly dark and earthy in the glass, the 2006 Brunello di Montalcino slowly blossoms with nuances of savory herbs, shaved cedar and dried black cherries. It's round and elegant in feel with a weight that only maturity can bring as notes of ripe plum mix with inner sage and a tinge of exotic spice. Balance is expertly maintained as the 2006 tapers off with lovely length, licorice resonance and steely minerality.

Bright medium red. Aromatic nose melds cherry, raspberry, wild herbs and menthol. A floral, silky, nicely perfumed midweight, with a juicy delicacy to its fruit and floral flavors. With its rather easygoing structure, this will give early pleasure. Turned a bit dry with time in the glass.

The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is a pretty, mid-weight offering graced with crushed flowers, dried cherries, spices and sweet herbs. Menthol, licorice and roses add complexity on the high-toned, feminine finish. Already pretty approachable, the estate's 2006 Brunello looks to be an excellent choice for near and mid-term drinking. The Brunello spent 36 months in large Slavonian and French oak casks.
