Tasting notes
The 2022 Hexameter is based on 49% Cabernet Franc, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Merlot and Petit Verdot. It shines in the vintage and has a pretty, pure, elegant profile in its lively red, blue, and black fruits, spring flowers, cedarwood, and incense-driven aromas and flavors. It's balanced, has medium to full-bodied richness, a pretty, elegant, silky mouthfeel, and ripe tannins. It's very complete, layered, and elegant.

The 2022 Hexameter comes across as fuller-bodied, richer and riper than the 2021, marrying concentrated notes of black raspberries with black olives and adding in some dark chocolate for good measure. Tannic but velvety in feel, this blend of 49% Cabernet Franc, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot finishes long and dark.
The 2022 Hexameter is a bright, punchy wine from Ovid. Crushed flowers, red cherry, blood orange and lavender lend brightness that runs through this super-expressive edition of Hexameter. As always, the blend is driven by Cabernet Franc, although Cabernet Sauvignon plays a pretty important role this year. I am very interested to see how the 2022 ages, especially given the greater focus on freshness at Ovid vis-à-vis the earlier days. I tend to prefer this on the fresher side.
