A head-turning nose of cherry and apple with their flowers incorporates intimations of mint and cress. This combination serves for a succulently fruity and coolingly herbal impression on the silky mid-palate that simultaneously invigorates thanks to nips of fruit pit, pips and cress. Prominent sweetness complements the wine’s effusive fruitiness while its piquant and incisive elements supply welcome contrast leading into a lusciously lingering finish.

The 2014 Riesling Spätlese Norheimer Kirschheck is pure and salty on the nose, which displays sweet cherry and very fine botrytis aromas. It's just a perfect combination of slate and fine Riesling flavors. Dönnhoff estimates the botrytis part around 30%. Round and sweet on the plate, very juicy and sensual, but with a piquant and salty finish, this is a lovely, stimulating Spätlese with some super ripe banana flavors. The finish is fine, salty and really stimulating.
The aromatic fruit of the Kirschheck is not trying to overwhelm with exuberant fragrance but titillates with delightful delicacy. Peach, grapefruit and orange share the spoils on the palate and are accompanied by a distinctive but nevertheless gentle dash of minerality. A perfectly proportioned Spätlese, which gets the gastric juices flowing. (MS)
