The 2011 Barolo offers pretty, smoky graphite notes and ash on top of luscious fruit. It is soft and yielding up front, resulting in an easy-drinking and accessible style. This wine offers more proof, if I needed it, that I prefer 2011 over 2012 Barolo.

La Morra. Healthy-looking ruby with orange tinges. Monolithic and closed with only a hint of dried fruit and a little spice spice from the oak. Slightly charred fruit on the palate, but with plenty of energy and lots of ripe, gripping tannins. (WS)
