Lustrous and just mid ruby with orange tinges. Exotic and fine cherry fruit nose. Fine and elegant on the palate with lively yet ripe acidity and super-fine, crushed tannins. Gorgeous and with stunning elegance. (WS)

A deep, dark ruby in the glass, the 2013 Brunello di Montalcino is flat-out stunning, with a gorgeous, slowly-maturing bouquet of dusty rose, sage, balsamic spice and dried black cherry. It’s silky and refined, with wave after wave of tart red berry fruit and plum contrasted by hints of sour citrus, as an air of tobacco forms toward the close. The 2013 leaves the palate completely refreshed despite its length, resonating with adolescent tannins that don’t get in the way of this immaculate, pure Brunello. This is in a beautiful place today, with many more years of development in store for patient collectors.

The wines from this estate are distinguished by their overall elegance and fine nature. The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino shows its youth with tight aromas of forest fruit and wild cherry. This wine requires more bottle time before it starts to blossom. In the mouth, it delivers sultry and sophisticated notes of tobacco and campfire ash. The wine ages in Slavonian oak casks for 30 months.

Mid ruby with orange tinges. Shy yet complex and concentrated on the nose. Gorgeous intensity of spicy cherry that is never heavy and with firm but finely grained tannins. Really too young to approach right now. (WS) (JR)
