Drink 0-0, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2009
(this one finished its malo in June of 2008 and was bottled at the end of July) Good deep red. Very ripe but stunted nose hints at redcurrant, plum and resiny oak; not now showing the high notes of some of the lesser 2006s here. Then quite chewy but uncompromisingly dry in the mouth, offering cherry and mineral flavors but finishing with serious oak tannins that saturate the teeth. I find this very austere wine impossible to taste today. Gilles Jayer says this bottle is representative, but is out of sorts owing to the very late bottling. Judgment deferred.
