Tasting notes
Showy nose of black and blue fruit with smoke. licorice, toast, licorice and candied berries. Rich, fat and dense, but not overbearing. The fruit is lush, concentrated, sweet and fresh, with a long, fruit-filled flamboyant finish. Popped and poured, not sure it needs decanting. This is drinking great right now. If you have a bottle, why wait?

Extremely intense, rich, superripe wine that should appeal to those who appreciate power and intensity but for this curmudgeon the sweetness was too overwhelming to make this an appetising wine to drink with food. I could imagine appreciating it more perhaps sipped on its own at the end of a meal like port, in quite a few years once the tannins have subsided, but it overwhelmed our Zuni roast chicken alas. (JR)
