Tasting notes
Wild herbs and crushed rocks give way to nuances of tangerine, olive and black currants as the 2022 Syrah Foothills Reserve smolders up from the glass. It envelops the palate with soothingly round textures and juicy acidity, while a saline mineral inflection adds contrast. Tart wild berry fruits drench the senses in primary concentration. Sour citrus lifts the experience as it finishes spicy, slightly chewy and exceptionally long, with a subtle tug of edgy tannins that resonate. This is totally harmonious and geared up for a glorious evolution.

Bursting in white pepper, violet, and baked plum, the 2022 Syrah Foothills Reserve is insanely good. The charcuterie, bacon sizzle, and floral underbelly of some of the producer's other wines are there, within a full-bodied context of complex, silky texture and never-ending length. Lovely, impressive, and age-worthy for another 15, if not 20 years, this is just wow.
