Tasting notes
The Merlot-dominated cuvée from this team is the 2007 Fenix, which in 2007 includes 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and a splash of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Its darker ruby color is followed by a plump, rounded, opulent and sexy beauty that offers tons of plums, chocolate, earth, and tobacco leaf-like aromas and flavors. I like it today, yet it will keep through 2025.

(a blend of 88% merlot, 10% cabernet sauvignon and 1% each of cabernet franc and petit verdot) Opaque ruby. A powerful, deeply perfumed bouquet displays cherry compote, blueberry and mulberry scents, along with notes of cola and licorice pastille. Lush, palate-caressing dark fruit flavors show no rough edges and pick up smoke and black pepper notes with air. A sweet vanilla note comes up on the long, spicy, penetrating finish. Give this some air or hold off on opening it for another couple of years.
