The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is intense, with a dark and rich bouquet that blends blackberries, grilled herbs, a dusting of cocoa and cherry cordial with hints of camphor. It's racy and energetic, with silken textures and ripe red fruits that swirl across the palate. The 2007 maintains poise while tapering off juicy and keeping the senses salivating for more, leaving the slightest tinge of sous-bois and leather over a bed of sweet tannins. The ripeness of the vintage can be sensed here, yet the experience remains wonderfully balanced.

The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva shows cherry and plum sauce, lifted by sweet sage and mint, yet still quite rich and intense. With time, it dips down to earth with a mix of flowery undergrowth and wet stone. It’s velvety and weighty, yet a core of stimulating acidity and inner spice saturates the palate as dark red fruits penetrate deeply. Though still lightly structured, the 2007 is drinking beautifully today, showing only a hint of its maturity through a nuance of crushed fall leaves. A resonating note of licorice lingers incredibly long.
The Fuligni 2007 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva reveals beautiful tertiary intensity with wild berry and plum followed by balsam herb, licorice, grilled herb and spice. I am impressed by the sheer exuberance and richness of this wine that remains mid-weight all the while but produces plenty of elegance and lasting power nonetheless. This wine is experiencing the perfect moment in its drinking window right now.
Fuligni make Riserva only in the best years, using grapes from the oldest vines in the vineyard. Matured for three years in oak, two years in stainless steel. Mature, evolved ruby. Lots of complexity and herbs and tar. Real intensity and wonderful lift. Great to have the chance to taste such a mature example. Really quite rich for Fuligni!
