Score 87/100 · Drink 2015-2019, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Apr 2015
The Opalie de Château Coutet 2012 is a blend of 70% Sémillon and 30% Sauvignon Blanc matured in 45% new wood. It has an attractive bouquet with Granny Smith apple and pear skin aromas, a little more phenolic than other dry white Sauternes. The palate is well balanced with citrus lemon, almond and a touch of walnut, the new oak just a little too conspicuous on the finish. Still, this is an attractive dry white from Coutet.
