Tasting notes
Slightly deeper purple-colored, the 100% estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon offers a brilliant bouquet of crème de cassis, cedarwood, spring flowers, sappy herbs, and forest floor. With medium to full body, beautiful purity and elegance as well as power on the mid-palate, it's a remarkable, classic wine that shows the style of the estate as well as the style of the vintage.

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Seavey Vineyard is without question one of the wines of the vintage. Bright and explosive, with tremendous aromatic lift and structure, the 2017 possesses superb balance to match its classy and classic feel. Sweet floral and spice notes develop in the glass alongside red and purplish fruit, adding stunning perfume and layers of complexity to this supremely beautiful mid-weight Cabernet Sauvignon.
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate (100% Cabernet) was aged 20 months in 70% new French oak. Deep garnet-purple colored, it is just a little closed to begin, giving way to crushed black cherries, cassis and blackberry compote with hints of plum preserves, wild sage, mossy tree bark and pencil lead. Medium-bodied, the palate gives just enough black berry and herbal layers with a chewy texture and lively finish. 575 cases produced.
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is dark, sumptuous and racy, with tremendous fruit purity and overall depth. Today, the 2017 is very primary. The more mineral and savory aspects that make wines off this site so compelling have not developed fully, but there is so much potential here. Racy, red cherry and pomegranate fruit are beautifully pushed forward in this succulent, impeccably balanced Cabernet Sauvignon from Seavey, with hints of iron, game, blood orange and licorice that develop over time. I tasted the 2017 from a core blend composed exclusively of pre-fire lots. This is a gorgeous wine in the making.
