2022 Once & Future Zinfandel Bedrock Vineyard

Full bottle 1,231 g. 134-year-old vines, head-trained, 8 ft x 8 ft spacing, planted on Tuscan Red Hills soil series. Harvested on 5 September 2022. Fermented in small open-top redwood fermenters with ambient yeasts. Aged in French oak barrels – 30% new. Bottled November 2023. pH 3.99, TA 5.1 g/l. 125 cases made. Deep purple. Blackberries, chocolate and a touch of smoky meatiness. Intense grippy tannins that climb the gums and the cheeks, quite savoury and drying. Lingering saltiness. This could use another year for the tannins to mellow. (SCJ)
