Another sensational white is the 2016 Chardonnay Haynes Vineyard which is from a site in Coombsville. One of the more pure, seamless, and finesse-driven in the lineup, it has incredibly pure aromas and flavors of white peach, citrus blossom, white flowers, and honeysuckle. It’s another Chardonnay that can be enjoyed today or cellared for a decade. Readers looking for a serious lineup of single vineyard Pinot Noirs and Chardonnay that have a distinctly Burgundian vibe need to check out these releases from Ehren Jordan and Savanna Wright. Failla owns prime terroirs on the Sonoma Coast, as well as has access to some of the best vineyards in the region. While these aren’t for those craving big, powerful wines, they have plenty of intensity as well as singular profiles. The 2016 Chardonnay Haynes Vineyard, from a site in Coombsville planted in 1964 on St. George rootstock, stands out for its translucence and class. Weightless and yet phenolic in feel, the Haynes is a wine of total distinction. A host of savory and mineral inflections give the Haynes its flavor signatures, but above all else, this is a Chardonnay of structure.
