Really vibrant and colorful on the nose with elegantly lifted notes of roses and violets ,along with sappy sweetness and ripe strawberries. Full-bodied with silky, fine tannins and a bit of saltiness. The intensity here swells at first, but then mellows into a bed of juicy dark fruit and roasted herbs. The sap comes through again at the finish. Drinkable now, but best after 2023.

From a top site in the Sta. Rita Hills, the 2018 Pinot Noir Mount Carmel sports a translucent ruby hue to go with bright cherry and mulberry fruits, notes of spicy herbs, loamy soil, and orange blossom nuances. Lifted, perfumed, and exotic, it's medium-bodied on the palate, with a lively, elegant texture, bright acidity, and a clean finish. This ethereal Pinot Noir will benefit from a year or two of bottle age and drink nicely for over a decade.
