Tasting notes
Dark red-ruby.Sexy nose of black cherry, bitter chocolate and cured tobacco, lifted by a rose petal element.Rich, sweet and deep, with a sappy freshness to its dark cherry, raspberry and spice flavors. This fruit bomb finishes with lush tannins, subtle floral and spicy oak notes and lovely persistence. Even after 24 hours in the recorked bottle, the fat, creamy fruit remained fresh and seductive.

Rivaling the profound West Block, the 2004 Pinot Noir East Block boasts a slightly more saturated dense ruby/purple-tinged color, and plays it slightly closer to the vest. On the palate, it explodes with flavor intensity, depth, and length. Layered, rich, and full-bodied, this profound effort will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age, and keep for 10-12 years or longer. Kudos to Tom Rochioli, one of the truly great guys of the wine business. Tel. (707) 433-2305; Fax (707) 433-2358
