At 16 years of age, the 2005 Labégorce shows just a little bricking on the rim. The nose offers smudged red berry fruit, incense, iris flower and peony, actually gaining delineation with time. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins. There's an almost equal measure of red and black fruit, with a fine grip and a fleshy, sensual and opulent finish. I have always enjoyed this Labégorce, and it continues to drink extremely well.

Very dark – St-Émilion colour! A bit exaggerated and with very drying tannins on the finish. Right-bank style. (JR)

Good medium-deep red. Sexy aromas of redcurrant, minerals, tobacco, coffee and cedary oak. Sweet and opulent, with inviting coffee and mocha tones carrying through on the palate. Finishes with sweet tannins and good mellow length. This shut down in the glass, suggesting that it will need at least several years of aging.
