Tasting notes
The 2000 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles put in an excellent showing, demonstrating that the millennial vintage produced some fine, perhaps overlooked white Burgundies. The nose is quintessential Anne-Claude Leflaive: smoke, gunflint and a slight reductive note. The palate displays impressive weight and cohesion for a 2000 with brisk lime and citrus notes. The precision is maintained from start to finish that feels long and satisfying. Probably à point, this Puligny-Montrachet comes highly recommended. Tasted June 2016.
