Tasting notes
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Ganymede is also brilliant. Made from 100% Stags Leap Cabernet Sauvignon, this full-bodied, elegant 2016 never puts a foot wrong, offering a stunning bouquet of crème de cassis, blackcurrants, crushed flowers, and spice box. It’s a sexy, beautifully textured, seamless read that’s going to cruise for two decades or more in cool cellars.

One of the highlights in this range, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Ganymede Vineyard is a gorgeous wine. Intensely mineral and floral, the 2016 is impeccable in its balance, even if it is quite reticent in the early going. Rose petal, lavender, mint and bright red-tone fruit are among the signatures. Today, the Ganymede is a touch austere, but that should not be an issue in time. In this lineup, the Ganymede stands out for its vivid, crystalline shades of nuance.
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Ganymede (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) has a deep garnet-purple color and quite a broody nose to begin, with notions of tar and black soil opening out to a core of wild blueberries, cassis and blackberries plus hints of underbrush and truffles. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers a good intensity of youthful black fruits with a firm backbone of grainy tannins and a long earthy finish.
