Tasting notes
The 2016 Chardonnay Cuvée Bois is simply stunning, wafting up with its rich bouquet of confectionary spices, pineapple, whole butter and freshly sliced vanilla bean. This is soothingly round and silky, with a pleasant inner sweetness that’s well complemented by its tropical fruit profile and bright, juicy acids. The Cuvée Bois tapers off completely refreshing and long, staining the palate with notes of roasted almond and custard, yet with a subtle bitter touch that completes the experience perfectly. This is an Italian oak-influenced Chardonnay with some mid-term cellaring potential packed-in as well. Very nice.

The 2016 Valle d'Aosta Chardonnay Cuvée Bois is a mid-weight expression with creamy tones of canned peach, lemon mouse and almond paste. This wine performs beautifully in the mouth especially when you consider the softness and generosity of its fiber and texture. It ages on the fine lees with frequent bâtonnage in French oak for 11 months. Oak toast and spice builds intensity and complexity. However, there is no residual heaviness here. This mountain Chardonnay is fresh, zesty and almost electric in personality. Some 23,358 bottles were released.
