Very pale, more like a dark rosé. Sweet red fruit, almost a note of caramel sweetness but still fresh-fruited. On the palate, amazingly creamy texture, caressing and rounded, gentle but mouth-fillingly fruity with very good freshness and persistence. (JH)

Best corner of the Herrenstück, volcanic, highest and south facing. Pale garnet. Very fine and pungent and savoury but approachable. Long and reverberant. Impressive. (JR)

Pale ruby with a greyish tinge. Very light nose – just vaguely warm fruit. On the palate there is marked acidity but not much fruity core. Definitely too young to enjoy now. (JR)
