The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain is quite the powerhouse. Dark-toned fruit, chocolate, new leather, incense, scorched earth, tobacco and gravel hit the palate. This potent Diamond Mountain Cabernet packs a pretty significant punch. Readers can look forward to another decade of very fine drinking.

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain is sensational stuff and comes from a warmer region in the northern part of the valley. It boasts a deep purple color as well as full-bodied, deep, rich aromas and flavors of black fruits, truffle, scorched earth, charcoal, pen ink, and chocolate. With a ripe, hedonistic style, terrific purity of fruit, and notable freshness, it’s a sensational Cabernet Sauvignon from Chris Carpenter that will drink well for 2-3 decades. Made by winemaker Chris Carpenter and focusing all on Mountain terroirs, I find the wines from Lokoya to be some of the most compelling, singular, and awesome wines made in the Valley. Unfortunately, the prices are ridiculous and beyond the means of most, myself included.
Very deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain features an evocative red and black currant-scented nose with nuances of spice box, lavender, tilled soil and chargrill plus a hint of tobacco. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is firm and fine grained, with lovely red and black fruit layers, finishing long and earthy. 407 cases produced.
