Tasting notes
The 2001 Torre Muga is an undeniably great wine. Still a deep purple color, on the palate it is densely packed, rich, and structured for the long haul. Give it another 8-10 years of cellaring and drink it through 2041. Importer: Jorge Ordonez, Fine Estates from Spain, Dedham, MA; tel. (781) 461-5767

Full ruby-red. Deep, smoky, lightly roasted aromas of black plum, minerals and licorice. Full, round and sweet, with highly complex plum, cinnamon and smoky oak flavors perfectly framed by strong but harmonious acidity. Fat, broad and wonderfully deep. Finishes with outstanding palate-saturating persistence and great lingering sweetness. This wine spends nearly two years in large American oak vats, then another 16 months in new French barriques .
