Score 91/100 · Drink 2001-2011, Robert Parker, Jun 2001
The evolved, mature ruby/amber color of the 1997 Barolo Zonchera is perplexing since the wine tastes young and vigorous. An exotic offering, it exhibits aromas of smoke, coffee, vanilla, maple syrup, brown sugar, and overripe cherries. This is a full-bodied, luxuriously rich, decadent, young Barolo that should be drunk now and over the next decade. Importer: Veuve Clicquot, New York, NY; tel. (212) 888-7575

Medium red-orange. Superripe aromas of brown spices, nuts, earth and menthol. Soft, full and sweet in the mouth; shows a roasted ripeness and lovely lush texture yet maintains good vinosity. Finishes with serious tannins and complex notes of leather, earth, mocha and camphor. A very good Barolo blend.
