Score 88-89/100 · Drink 2004-2007, Daniel Thomases, Wine Advocate, Jun 2003
The dark ruby 2001 Rosso di Montalcino exhales lovely plum and berry aromas framed by light oak spices, cinnamon, and chocolate. Oversized for its category, the palate is solid, weighty, and sweet, and the density and length are far more than those of a standard Rosso di Montalcino. Very pleasurable, but it will keep: drink 2004-2007. Together with La Poderina and Castello di Casigliano, this represents the most improved wines of Montalcino over the past 18 months.
