Cool intensity.  And some mocha fruit.  A touch of minerality.  Clean and very well-defined core of fruit with a touch of Angelus gloss.  A touch of oak and the fruit carries it well.  Like Ausone, this is non-turbo Angelus and very nicely done.  Complete. Joss Fowler, FINE+RARE, April 2014.

Tasted blind. Mid, deep garnet. Light but well-balanced nose. Not the fruitiest, nor the most expressive. Red wine rather than a top St-Émilion? Dry finish that lasts a reasonable amount of time. (JR)

Tasted blind. More toasty than the wine just tasted (which turned out to be Pavie). Sweeter aroma. Light, dry and elegant. Just a bit dusty. But has nice fragrance. (JH)

On the other hand, the opaque purple-colored 2013 Angelus, a brilliant blend of equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Franc harvested between September 9 and October 3 (only 60% of the production was utilized), possesses good acidity as well as pure blueberry, mulberry and black currant fruit intermixed with notions of licorice, Christmas fruitcake, underbrush and forest floor. With medium body and more texture than is found in most 2013s, it should drink well for 8-10 years. This vineyard is meticulously manicured and the wine is brilliantly made by Hubert de Bouard.
