The 2008 Shiraz The Armagh is sealed under cork. There is garden mint and julep on the nose here. It has a brilliant intensity of fruit—vibrant. The structure is attractively loose-knit, and there are notes of tobacco leaf, crushed ant iodine, steel shavings and graphite. It has 15% alcohol and matured for 14 months in 80% French and 20% American oak barriques (225 liters).

Inky ruby. Heady aromas of ripe blackberry, blueberry and candied licorice are complicated by sexy notes of vanilla, violet and Indian spices. Lush, deeply flavored and broad, offering intense dark berry and cherry compote flavors and an exotic floral pastille nuance. Finishes sweet and very long, with resonating spiciness, a hint of fruitcake and velvety tannins.

Really juicy, sweet, fruit sauce flavour. Quite remarkable density of flavour – but it is very much one-dimensional, and some heat comes through on the finish. (RH)

The fantastic 2008 Shiraz The Armagh is a bull at the gate, displaying dense and muscular aromas of blackberry, chocolate and coal dust with a slaty minerality. Tightly packed and energetic flavors follow with well-matched, chewy T-Bone tannins. It concludes with a picture-perfect finish, showcasing superb power, weight and length.
