Tasting notes
I loved the 2021 Pinot Noir Silice, which is alluring with a perfume of kirsch, sassafras, and lavender. Juicy and full-bodied, it fills the palate with sweet tannins, mouthwatering saline, and a long finish, with notes of incense lasting long on the back palate. This gorgeous wine will continue to improve over the coming 6-8 years.

The 2021 Pinot Noir Silice lifts from the glass, delicate and wonderfully fresh, casting dusty dried flowers and hints of star anise, cinnamon, and wild strawberries to form its darkly alluring bouquet. Cool-toned and wickedly fresh, it cascades across the palate with crunchy wild berries propelled by zesty acidity as salty florals come forward. It finishes tannic, yet sweet and round, tapering off quickly to leave touches of licorice and inner rose.
Plantings from 2001 and 2002 as well as new blocks planted in 2014 and 2015. This vineyard is right next to Adelsheim on Calkins Lane. Pale ruby in colour with a purple hue. Intense aromatics of fresh violets, black plum, grape popsicle and orange oil. Weightier than La Spirale or La Pré du Col with sandier tannin and a more savoury finish. Black-fruited with broad, soft acidity that spreads the width of the tongue. Cola and a touch of dark cherry and mushroom to the finish. (SCJ)
Medium ruby-purple, the 2021 Pinot Noir Silice Vineyard blossoms slowly to pomegranate, blackberry, watermelon, dried herbs and aniseed. The medium-bodied palate is loaded with wild berry fruit. Combining power and elegance, it's silky and seamless in the mouth, and a flourish of spicy accents across the finish hints it has more to reveal over the next 2-3 years in bottle.
