Score 93/100 · Drink 2023-2028, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Dec 2022

A blend of 92% Syrah and 8% Mourvèdre, the 2020 Honey Bunny has a deep ruby-purple color and savory aromas of cassis, grilled game meats and tobacco with youthful touches of cedar and vanilla still poking out on the nose. The full-bodied palate is concentrated with somewhat blocky fruit, chewy tannins and lots of new oak character on the finish. It's a touch muddled, without the elegance and definition I usually find in this cuvée.

More black fruits, peppered game, graphite, and chocolate notes emerge from the 2020 Honey Bunny, a big, rich, meaty Syrah that has a great core of fruit, savory yet quality tannins, good mid-palate density, and a great finish. It's beautifully done and certainly a success in the vintage. Connor McMahon’s Fulldraw Vineyard clearly ranks with the top estates in Paso Robles today. Their 2020s showed well, but readers should also try to find some of their 2019s, which were reviewed last year.
