Tasting notes
Molitor’s 2004 Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Spatlese A.P. #22 was his most promising wine I tasted. A complex aroma mingles baked apple, vanilla, nut oils, musk, honey, and heady florality. An initially compact, then expansive and satisfyingly intense mouthful of baked apple, pineapple, lemon, vanilla, flowers, and herbs offers a lot to enjoy. There is a glossy, schmaltzy texture along with considerable overt sweetness and an ample dose of acidity. The finish is luscious, though quite sweet, tinged with tart fruit skin, baking spices, and herbal accents. Importer: Wein-Bauer, Inc., Franklin Park, IL; tel. (847) 678-0685
