The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Aux Combottes opens in the glass with aromas of orange zest, peonies and spices complemented by deep bass notes of plum and cherry. Medium to full-bodied, ample and unctuous, with a broad attack and a rich, layered mid-palate, it concludes with a long, saline finish.

Cask sample. Mid ruby. Interesting – a whiff of fresh celery on the nose. Ripe raspberry and cherries with a distinct violet note. On the palate, riper, thicker, luxuriant texture again. Cool minerals and a touch of salt on the mid palate and on to the finish. (MH)
