Coffee and lush herbs, dark fruits, and dark earth. There is a lot of concentration here from both the fruit itself and the oak usage. Plenty of structure and the acidity to match. Let this wine have a couple years in bottle and serve it alongside food. There is a lot of wine here for good value. Good commercial effort with the freshness to elevate it. GV (ECB)

A large cuvée from Beringer (130,000 cases) and a great value is the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon from Knights Valley. They have over 500 acres of vineyard in this area and have been long making nice chocolaty, blackcurrant, plum and Asian spice-styled Cabernets with supple tannins, medium to full body and loads of fruit. True consumer-pleasure wines, this is just that and should continue to drink well for another 8-10 years.

Beringer's 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Knights Valley is a classic Knights Valley wine built on power, mineral-drenched energy and savory overtones. Super-ripe dark black fruit, raspberry jam, smoke, tobacco, incense, gravel, asphalt and licorice are all pushed forward. The Knights Valley tannins are present, but the straight Cabernet is naturally more accessible than the Reserve.
