The 2008 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione emerges from the glass with dark fruit intermingled with floral and spice notes. This is a decidedly dark, powerful Barolo for a site that tends to give much more delicate wines, but the elements are nicely balanced and nothing is hugely out of place.

Castiglione Falletto. Mid ruby with broad orange rim. Pretty, perfumed and sweet and with a little bit of mocha and oak on a red and dried-fruit palate. Lots of grainy tannin and oak notes, which still need to integrate. (WS)
