Score 89/100 · Drink 2020-2040, Robert Parker, Mar 2016
The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Scion pays respect to Robert Young, who was the first to plant Cabernet Sauvignon in the Alexander Valley in 1963. Toasted oak, a notion of new saddle leather, black currants and plums are present in this deep ruby/purple-colored wine. Still structured, tannic and youthful, this is a Cabernet Sauvignon clearly built to age. It has that distinct earthiness that is often part of an Alexander Valley personality. This medium to full-bodied, moderately tannic wine needs another 3-4 years of cellaring and should keep for at least two decades.
