Tasting notes
The 2019 Zinfandel Dragon Vineyard is dense, dark and powerful, just as it was last year. Inky dark fruit, gravel, chocolate, licorice, lavender and dried herbs give this brooding Howell Mountain Zinfandel tons of character. Black cherry fruit, lavender and licorice reappear on the gorgeous finish.

Medium ruby in color, the 2019 Zinfandel Dragon Vineyard has alluring black fruits on the nose with accents of salted licorice, earth and blood orange. The medium-bodied palate is grainy and fresh with spicy black fruits and a long finish with appealing earthy nuances. It's youthfully coiled and deserves another 2-3 years in bottle. 1,410 cases produced.
The 2019 Zinfandel Dragon Vineyard is a dense, powerful wine. Inky red fruit, rose petal, spice and cedar all run through this potent, Howell Mountain Zinfandel. Firm tannins need time to soften, but there is a lot of wine. The Dragon is one of the most distinctive bottlings in the range. This is a true mountain wine, but it is less forbiddingly tannic and brooding than the Rattlesnake Ridge.
