Deep garnet-purple, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard has a very serious nose of warm cassis, baked plums and cigar box with hints of menthol, pencil lead, cloves and cast-iron pan. Medium to full-bodied, the palate reveals beautiful poise, offering intense black fruit and mineral accents with a firm, fine-grained framed, finishing with a lingering earthy lift. 819 cases made.

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard is a rich, boisterous wine loaded with personality that beautifully expresses the personality of this St. Helena site. Bright floral notes, sweet red berry fruit, mint, spice and licorice open up effortlessly in the glass. Medium in body and gracious, the 2017 shows the more restrained side of the year. This is an especially understated style. The 2017 has really come together over the last year. Dr. Crane is just beautiful today.

Soft and juicy tannins with bright dark-berry and blackcurrant character. Full-bodied, dense and layered. Supple.

Score 91-94/100 · Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Dec 2018

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard is, as always, the most sensual and perfumed Cabernet in the range. Silky, ripe tannins wrap around a core of red and purplish berry fruit, wild flowers and mint. Pliant and nuanced in the glass, the 2017 is very pretty today. It will be interesting to see if it fleshes out a bit more during aging.
