Tasting notes
Mid crimson and slightly grey. Very sweet and round and slightly raisiny. Slight rustic edge but very ripe and round and lively with a certain freshness and punch. Long and powerful. Looking good for the future, A confident wine. (JR)

This is an extraordinary house that seems to have been particularly successful with its vintage port since 1977.The 1983 is rich, concentrated, very fruity, and magnificently perfumed, suggesting that it is going to mature early, long before the 1977.
Not up to scratch. Slightly volatile and hard. Can't properly judge the wine from this bottle.--Dow vertical. – James Suckling , Wine Spectator 1999
