(16% alcohol due to the tiny, concentrated berries, but balanced by 6.2 grams/liter total acidity): Saturated dark ruby! Brooding black fruits, black olive, lavender and flinty, smoky minerality on the nose. Dense, superconcentrated, rather wild flavors of saline olive tapenade, dark berries and smoked meat. Displays superb thickness and chewy depth but still needs time to gain in complexity and open. The tannins are dusty but not dry, and the finish is very long and spicy.

Bright full ruby. Pungent aromas of candied blueberry, minerals, lavender, crushed stone, roasted meat, mocha and black olive; youthful but already expressive. Pliant, rich and deep, with terrific verve and incipient complexity to the intense flavors of black cherry, salty minerality, game and white pepper. Really exhilarating high-toned floral/wild herb character and inner-mouth tension. Still an infant, and extremely long on the aftertaste. This reminded me of a top syrah bottling from Cayuse.

Bright ruby. Knockout nose combines dark berries, white pepper, smoked meat, violet and flinty minerality; a real essence of syrah. Then sweet, round and seamless in the mouth, with superb concentration and a lovely light touch for such a rich wine. Black raspberry and licorice flavors are complicated by chocolate and meat nuances. Impressive Napa Valley syrah with a very long, subtle finish.
