From a blend of 52% Merlot, 34% Cab Sauv and 14% Cab Franc and posessing a very healthy 13.5% alcohol the 2011 Potensac has a lovely nose, darkly fruited full of currants etc. The palate echos this with juicy dark fruit. Good quality this year and potentially decent value for money.

Pale ruby. Looks quite evolved. I haven't tasted a 2011 bordeaux for ages! There is structure here but somehow it doesn’t come across as excessive tannin for there is fruit too. It's held up pretty well and has real fruit in the middle to counterbalance that tannin and a fair amount of acidity to add up to a decent claret for current drinking. (JR)
The 2011 Potensac offers brambly red fruit on the nose mixed with sage and touches of black tea, though this does oxidize a little within a couple of minutes. The palate is chewy with firm grip. Quite a dense 2011, a little rough hewn but with a pleasant bitter edge on the saline finish. Tasted blind at the annual 10-Year-On tasting.
Tasted blind. Quite evolved ruby. Dusty, rather drainy, nose. Then very tart on the end. Distinctly ungenerous. But with food probably better. (JR)
